President Barack Obama has finally done what no President in quite some time has been able or willing to do, that is, make a transportation plan for the future. Let us hope that he not only makes a plan, but gets the plan going.
US High Speed Rail Map
An ambitious plan for high speed rail corridors was outlined by President Obama. While the plan does not include major east-west routes (I was hoping for two or three cross country routes connecting San Diego to Jacksonville, LA to Washington DC and Seattle to NY), it is still a very strong move in the right direction to create alternatives to automobile and airline travel. Even my beloved Birmingham, AL is on the map for high speed rail service!
